Loch Ness attraction reports fifteen accepted sightings for 2026

2026 news archive · Reported 27 October 2026 · UKPX added 4 November 2026

The Loch Ness Experience reported on 27 October that fifteen 2026 accounts had been accepted by the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register. It compared that figure with six reports for the whole of 2025.

The attraction described 2026 as the second-busiest year of the century so far, behind eighteen reports in 2019. That is a specific comparison, rather than an all-time record for Nessie observations.

The examples it highlighted included visitors describing dark shapes, a mound near Urquhart Castle and a longer object seen in August. These are reported observations recorded by the register; the tally does not turn them into fifteen confirmed animals.

Nor should the number be confused with the number of publishers carrying the announcement. Several outlets could cover one sighting or repeat the same seasonal roundup.

Our Loch Ness case file provides the longer background. The October source links onward to the sightings register for individual accounts.
