Micro Millie joins plans for a closer look beneath Loch Ness

The Loch Ness Experience announced a collaboration with Deep Sea Vision to survey Urquhart Bay using the autonomous vehicle Micro Millie. Published on 26 April, the plan formed part of preparations for The Quest in May.

The attraction described a gap between broad surveys of the loch and much more detailed mapping of its underwater terrain. The proposed work would focus on the bay’s floor and geological features, helping identify areas for later investigation.

Craig Wallace of Deep Sea Vision presented the deployment as the start of longer-term mapping work. The vehicle was intended to operate from a vessel within a defined area, collecting detailed scans.

This report records the survey plan announced in April. Read the original announcement below, or explore the longer search history in our Loch Ness case file.
