Psychopathology · Online survey and cluster analysis
A survey examined sensed presences alongside absorption, unusual experiences and mental-health measures. Different participant clusters showed that presence experiences do not have one uniform psychological context.
Method and scope
Anonymous social-media recruitment was followed by questionnaires, correlations and clustering of experience profiles.
What to keep in mind
Self-selection and cross-sectional data limit generalisation. Experiencing a presence is not, by itself, a diagnosis; the study examines varied patterns across participants.
