Journal of sleep research · Sleep-paralysis questionnaire study

An Italian survey explored sleep paralysis, bodily awareness and vivid accompanying experiences. Reports included a sensed being, fear and inability to move or speak.

Method and scope

Two hundred and ten adults completed measures of sleep experiences, emotional factors and interoceptive awareness.

What to keep in mind

This is a self-report association study, not a clinical assessment of every participant. The findings cannot establish a cause for an individual experience.
