Sleep medicine · Systematic review and meta-analysis
A review pooled sleep-paralysis studies from South Asia and found substantial variation between samples. Estimates changed markedly with study quality, sample size and the questionnaires used.
Method and scope
Twenty-three studies covering 5,520 participants were combined using a random-effects model and publication-bias assessments.
What to keep in mind
The pooled result is not a universal population rate. Large differences between studies and evidence of publication bias are central to interpreting the estimate.
