Consciousness and cognition · Psychometric comparison
Two established near-death-experience questionnaires were compared using Rasch modelling. They appeared to measure a closely related construct, but their response categories and newer items did not perform equally well.
Method and scope
Seven hundred and five self-identified experiencers completed intermingled items from both scales, allowing checks of item hierarchy and response bias.
What to keep in mind
The sample was self-identified. Strong agreement between questionnaires concerns measurement of reported experience, rather than verification of its proposed causes.
