Scientific reports · Geographical analysis of sighting reports

A national analysis links the distribution of public UAP reports with opportunities to view the sky and encounter aerial objects. The study adds geographical context to reported sightings.

Method and scope

Bayesian regression examined over 98,000 US reports from 2001–2020 alongside light pollution, tree cover, cloud cover, aviation and military-installation variables.

What to keep in mind

These are correlations in a reporting database, not independent identifications of the objects. Reporting behaviour and opportunities to observe can affect the pattern.
